Dr. Lorenzo Bracco’s Anorexia, The Real Causes presents leading-edge innovative solutions for the understanding and cure of a pathology that is steadily growing in today’s world.
In a first step for developing an effective therapy aimed at treating this profound existential disease, Dr. Bracco takes a new look at the real causes of this disorder. To understand anorexia, it is necessary to distinguish between its two types: anorexia that can arise at any age in both men and women, and anorexia occurring in adolescent girls. It is also important to take into account the now widely recognized fact that several concurrent causes trigger the onset of anorexia and eating disorders—primary among them are prenatal intrauterine traumas and traumas in the first months of life.
Anorexia integrates Somatic Experiencing® a naturalistic approach to the resolution of shock trauma, The NeuroAffective Relational Model™a model for the resolution of developmental trauma, Peter D’Adamo’s Blood Type Diet, and the Ecological Niche Diet®, Dr Bracco’s acclaimed diet based on the evolutionary ecological nature of nutrition and life style. The term diet refers not only to nutrition, but also to the whole of an individual’s life, their physical movement, behaviors, and their emotional and psychological life.
In addition, Dr. Bracco offers a new hypothesis: anorexics consistently show an unacknowledged disparity between the mother’s blood group and that of her daughter. Anorexia proposes an original solution for the prevention and treatment of female adolescent anorexia. Dr. Bracco’s unified theory and practical solutions frame known causes of anorexia within a pioneering perspective that brings forth new ways to solve this complex and dramatic problem.
This multi-modal approach offers new solutions for the prevention and treatment of anorexia by addressing a patient’s early developmental traumas while at the same time establishing a correct nutritional and life style tailored to the particularities of the individual within the human ecological niche.
Recognizing the real culprit of anorexia is the first step needed to not only treat but also to prevent this pathology. Several causes are at the core of anorexia and eating disorders. Are we sure we have identified all the real causes? The risk is to transform a secondary cause into a primary cause: for example, making only the relationship between parents and children responsible for the problem casting a shadow of blame and shame on the family.
Anorexia takes the reader on a journey that lifts the blame and shame from this issue. It will help the reader discover that beyond a disease, anorexia is a fascinating life passage that can have a rich and rewarding ending.
